Added Combi Boiler Installation Costs And Rates

The main reason why you should choose a condensing boiler and not a regular one is above all else its efficiency, that is, it can heat the same amount of water or warm up the same area of your home, using less energy, thus allowing more savings when it time to pay the bill. This higher efficiency is based on use of the water vapor that is released at the time of the fuel burning, vapor which in regular boilers is wasted, while condensing boilers take advantage of this and turn the vapor into heating. LESS ENERGY CONSUMPTION ==> MORE SAVINGS.

How does a combi boiler work?

This type of boiler implies that, at the time of the fuel burning, water vapor is released. The vapor (condensation) represents around 11 % of the 100% energy of the burnt fuel.

The condensing boiler has a heat exchanger inside and its function it is to take advantage of those extra 11% of energy, which in a regular boiler would be wasted and use it for heating.

So, through the use of the condensation produced during ignition it’s possible to have an efficiency higher than 110% ( when compared to the inferior heating power of gas).

Unfortunately this means that the installation is not cheap and you would need to get qualified registered engineers to come out and do the work. While some single units can be installed very quicky ( in as little as two hours) each boiler model is built and designed differently.
There fore a
number of practical factors mentioned below wil play a role in the installation costs: size, radiator-replacement, the length of the flue required to vent waste gases and whether or not you need to remove old water tanks currently taking up space in your attic or airing cupboard. Combi Boiler Sizes And Prices

Dependent on the size of your house, combi boilers prices will differ. Selecting the right size (kW output) combi boiler for your home is extremely important. If you choose a boiler that’s too small for your property, it won’t be able to produce the right amount of heating and hot water to meet your needs. However, this does not necessarily mean that you should purchase a big boiler. When you install a combi boiler that is too big for your home, you’ll waste energy and spend more money on your fuel bills.

We have put together a guide that shows you some of the most suitable combi boiler options for the size of your home to make it easy for you to compare models, warranties and costs. Our guide is designed to give you a rough idea of the appropriate boiler output, so you’ll still need to ask a qualified heating engineer to help you work out the correct size combi boiler for you and your property.

Why You Should Consider A Combi Boiler for Your Home

Combi boilers have numerous advantages over system and heat only boilers, but a modern condensing combination boiler won’t be the best choice for every home. Two of the most common combi boiler problems are that most struggle to provide heating and hot water simultaneously or can’t deal with two showers or baths running together at the same time. Because of this, combi boilers aren’t usually recommended for rather large homes or properties with several bathrooms. But like we just said, they do have some major plus points.

Combi Boiler Installation Costs

In addition to paying for a new combi boiler, you’ll need to spend some money on the installation. The fitting cost will depend on the type of boiler you want to replace and the amount of work involved. As combi boilers don’t need to be installed with loft tanks or a hot water storage cylinder, the installation is generally quicker and cheaper.

If you already have a combi boiler and want to upgrade to a newer combi model and have it installed in the exact same spot within your home, the installation cost will be less than if you are looking to swap a system or conventional boiler for a combi. Installation takes longer when switching from a system or conventional boiler to a combi because the pipes need to be re-plumbed and the cylinder and/or cold water tank has to be removed, making the fitting cost more expensive.

Our table includes guide prices for different types of combi installations to give you a rough idea of how much it will cost you to install a new combi boiler.

THE TYPE OF COMBI BOILER INSTALL YOU REQUIRE INSTALLATION COST
You want to replace a combi boiler with a new combi boiler and have it installed in the same place as your existing unit £550 – £670

You want to replace a conventional boiler, cold water tank and hot water storage cylinder with a new combi boiler £2,600 – £3,000
